NAME
- The name of our organization shall be the “Cheltenham Area Multifaith Council” (CAMC).
PURPOSE
- The purpose of the CAMC is to foster understanding among religious groups in the Cheltenham area
and to enhance a greater sense of spirituality and community among us. While celebrating the uniqueness of
each individual faith, the CAMC strives to educate the community about different cultures and faiths while encouraging respect
for one another. Our goal is to promote harmony within our diversity.
- The CAMC is a non-profit, non-political organization.
MEMBERSHIP
- Religious organizations in and around Cheltenham Township who support the goals and purposes of the
CAMC are welcome as “organizational” members of the Council. Each organization may be represented by not
more than three (3) voting members. Annual Dues will be set by the Council.
- Individuals, clergy and non-clergy, may join the CAMC. Individual dues will also be determined by the CAMC.
- Emeritus clergy and comparable community leaders are invited to become members of the CAMC with their annual dues waived.
- All members of the Council are permitted to vote at CAMC meetings.
THE COUNCIL
- The “Council” of the CAMC is comprised of its membership in session at its regular monthly meeting.
- The “Council” will set the policies and annual calendar of the CAMC.
- The “Council” will determine the fiscal needs and shall maintain responsibly any financial assets of the CAMC.
- The “Council” will be guided by Robert’s Rules of Order.
OFFICERS
- The CAMC will elect officers for renewable terms of one year from July 1 to June 30 of the following year.
- The officers of the Council will include but not be limited to:
- President
- First Vice President
- Second Vice President
- Treasurer
- Recording Secretary
- Corresponding Secretary
- The President or the President’s designee will conduct the monthly meeting of the Council.
The President will set the agenda and serve as the principal spokesperson for the CAMC.
- The First Vice President is responsible for programming. The First Vice President will become President
in the event of the resignation of the President, until the end of the term.
- The Second Vice President is responsible for the recruitment and retention of CAMC membership.
In the event the First Vice President is unable to assume the Presidency, then the Second Vice President
will become the President of the CAMC, until the end of the term.
- The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining and reporting the assets to the Council at its monthly meeting.
The Treasurer will pay the expenditures of the CAMC.
- The Recording Secretary is to maintain and distribute the monthly minutes of the CAMC
and to notify the membership of the CAMC about its regular meetings and special events.
- The Corresponding Secretary is to assist the Record Secretary in maintaining regular communications
for the CAMC both inside and beyond the organization.
- CAMC officers may meet on an interim basis between the regular monthly meetings of the Council.
COMMITTEES
- The Council may establish committees at will.
MEETINGS
- The CAMC will ordinarily meet monthly from September to May.
The time and date of the month meetings will be determined by the Council.
- Officers for the following year may be nominated in April and shall be elected at the May meeting of the CAMC.
MANDATED PROGRAMS
- The CAMC will host an annual community Thanksgiving Service.
- The CAMC will host an annual service in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
- The CAMC may organize special services in times of need to strengthen and comfort the community.
- The CAMC may do joint programs with other like minded organizations.
AMENDMENTS
- The CAMC By-Laws may be amended by a 2/3 vote of the “Council.”
DISSOLUTION
- The CAMC may be dissolved by a 2/3 vote of the “Council.”
RATIFICATION
- These By-Laws will be adopted by a majority of 2/3 or more of those member
Present at the April 2004 meeting of the Council.
